2018 Review: Devon & Cornwall

Entitlements:
Cornwall 5.27
Devon 7.73
Plymouth 2.36
Torbay 1.31
Total: 16.67 —-> 17 seats

This has been a bit of a faff! There are two possibilities for a cross-border seat: a Hamoaze seat or a northern seat. I haven’t yet found a satisfactory plan that includes a Hamoaze seat. Then, because I decided that I wanted to remove only one chunk from Plymouth, this means that the Plymouth seats are above average size, and this made it tricky to get all the rest of the Devon seats up to the minimum size. Another spanner in the works is the Crediton (Central Devon) seat which already has parts of four districts so I couldn’t add any Torridge wards to it. In the end the Totnes seat comes out slightly too small and it can’t really be fixed without a ward split because the wards east of Plymouth are awkwardly shaped. So I’ve added Holbeton (484 voters) to Totnes.

2018 Review: Somerset

In News on June 2, 2016 by dadge Tagged: , , , , ,

What I’m calling Somerset is actually:

Somerset 5.20
North Somerset 2.02
Bath and North East Somerset 1.73

where the numbers are the mathematical entitlement to seats. They add up to 8.96, so together this area gets 9 seats.

Here are two plans. The first one mantains a Somerton and Frome seat; the second one is more radical, putting Frome in a northern Somerset seat and separating Glastonbury from Wells.

2018 Review: Bristol

In News on June 1, 2016 by dadge Tagged: ,

Bristol’s probably the easiest area in this boundary review. The city’s entitled to 4.01 seats and just requires the switching of one ward.
